  1. Soak the kadalai over night and pressure cook it with a pinch of salt, once boiled strain and set aside.
  2. Temper mustard seeds, onions , chillies, curry leaves , ginger & garlic paste, tomatoes , add the dry spices in to the tempering mixture and continue to temper until the oil separates
  3. Add the kadalai and 1 cup of water, along with the salt and let it simmer.
  4. Once the gravy thickens add the coconut cream or yoghurt and lime juice.
  5. If needed you can add a tsp of sugar which would help to balance the flavours.

Kadalai Curry

This can be taken as a side dish for poor , thosai , idly or naan.

  • Kadalai   500g
  • Onions.   1 large chopped
  • Ginger & garlic paste 2 tsps
  • Tomatoes 3 chopped
  • Chillies 3
  • Curry leaves
  • Curry powder 2 Tbs
  • Chillie powder 1 Tbs
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Salt
  • Coconut cream 1/2 cup or yoghurt
  • Lime juice 1 tsp
